Often when someone has orthopaedic surgery planned, they will have been told that they need to strength train before surgery. This is common for knee surgery, including a knee replacement, ACL reconstruction or meniscal surgery. These surgeries may be required for numerous reasons including sports injuries, arthritis, avascular necrosis and more. What is progressive overload? In order to increase your performance in the gym, there are many benefits of applying the idea of progressive overload to your workout. This is where you gradually increase the weight you're using or your training volume - for example the number of reps you do.
